LEE THOMPSON YOUNG

Remember Jett Jackson of The Famous Jett Jackson Disney series? The character was portrayed well by actor Lee Thompson Young. Lee was also featured in the 2004 movie Friday Night Lights. His last movie role was that of Barry Frost, the police drama detective in Rizzoli & Isles, which aired on TNT between 2010 and 2014. Celebrities, just like any other human being, face mental problems, and Lee was no exception.

He battled with both bipolar disorder and depression early on in his life. He sought help to no avail and, in the end, took his life on the 19th of August 2013. The police confirmed that it was indeed a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His attorney stated that the possibility of wrongful death is not on the table because the cause has been backed by medical and police reports. His family launched the Lee Thompson Young Foundation to help other people who are struggling with mental illness in the hopes of removing the stigma about this condition.
