MARCIA WALLACE

Marcia Karen Wallace was a popular American actress, comedian, voice artist, and game show panelist. She also received television credits for portraying the chatty receptionist, Carol Kester, on the 1970 sitcom Bob Newhart Show. Her voicing of Mrs. Edna Krabappel, Bart Simpson’s teacher in The Simpsons, also earned her an Emmy award in 1992. Her bright red hair and unique and contagious laugh made it impossible not to notice her.

Her health began to decline as she fought cancer for more than 15 years. Since then, she became an active advocate for various cancer-related organizations. Unfortunately, cancer had its way as Marcia gave up the fight in 2013 at the age of 70 when she died because of pneumonia and sepsis. It happened a week before her 71st birthday. One would not also guess from her cheerful disposition that she had a troubled childhood. She, however, received treatments and counseling before her demise.
