The Goldbergs is an American period sitcom series created by Adam F. Goldberg and premiered in September 2013. The series is loosely based on Goldbergs’ family and childhood back in the ’80s, which presents the era through the eyes of adolescents and later in the series, in a teenagers’ eyes. With the videotaped childhood events of the showrunner, many of these were reenacted for series episodes, while the original version is shown before the show’s credits end.
The show stars Jeff Garlin, who portrays the role of the father, Murray, and Wendi McLendon-Covey portrays Beverly, the mother, with children Hayley Orrantia (Erica), Troy Gentile (Barry), and Sean Giambrone (Adam). Documenting his family’s life with his video camera is Adam. George Segal, who portrays the character of Albert “Pops” Solomon, is the father of Beverly and is frequently around to help out or provide advice to his grandchildren, often without the knowledge of his daughter.
