The Good Doctor | ABC | Renewed for Season 5

Based on the South Korean television series of the same title in 2013, The Good Doctor was executive-produced by actor Daniel Dae Kim after he bought the rights of the original series and struck a deal with Sony Pictures Television—good investment planning on his part. Additionally, he brought in the creator of the medical drama on Fox network, House, David Shore, to develop the series. Another party that has a role in the production of the show includes ABC Studios, in association with the production companies 3AD, Entermedia, and Shore Z Productions.

The series revolves around the main character of a young autistic savant, who’s a surgical resident at the fictional San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, Shaun Murphy, portrayed by actor Freddie Highmore. Initially, Kim offered the series to CBS Television Studios, but after failing to move forward in 2015, ABC network ordered the series in May 2017 and picked up the series for a full season of eighteen episodes. Fortunately, in May 2021, The Good Doctor was renewed for its fifth season.
