Grey’s Anatomy is a fictional television medical drama series that shows the lives of surgical residents, interns, and attendings as they evolve into seasoned doctors while balancing professional and personal relationships. It premiered in March 2007 on ABC network, and it’s an allusion to a classic human anatomy textbook that was first published in London in 1858, Gray’s Anatomy, written by Henry Gray.

The series revolves around the character of Dr. Meredith Grey, portrayed by actress Ellen Pompeo, who was an intern in the early part of the show and eventually became the chief of general surgery later on while exploring the ups and downs of a surgeon’s life. In May 2021, the series was renewed for its eighteenth season. It became the longest-running scripted primetime show, which is currently airing on ABC network and the longest-running medical drama series as of February 2019—credit to the storyline and the actors.
