Young Sheldon | CBS | Renewed through Season 7

Created as a spinoff to the megahit long-running American sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon takes place in the 1980s-1990s, decades before the events of The Big Bang Theory. It focuses on- you guessed it, a young Sheldon Cooper, now played by Iain Armitage, with the original adult version played by Jim Parsons. Its ensemble cast also credits actors and actresses Zoe Perry, Montana Jordan, Lance Barber, and Matt Hobby.

The prequel series began production in November 2016 after Parsons, the original Sheldon, pitched the idea to the producers of The Big Bang Theory. CBS commissioned the series in March of the following year, and Armitage and Perry received major roles in the show. Now, four years in the making, the series has become a mainstay in CBS’s shows, often compared with its predecessor. Much like its predecessor, it would also receive multiple season renewals, and as of March 2021, is expected to release three more seasons; Seasons 5, 6, and 7.
