DAVID BOWIE

David Robert Jones was known popularly as David Bowie was a British superstar and probably the most influential British entertainer of all time. In January 2019, he was voted the most iconic British entertainer in the 20th century beating Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin to the top spot. His resplendent career was complemented by his record album sales worldwide – hitting more than 140 million album sales and cementing himself in history books as one of the world’s best-selling artists.

In 1997, Bowie’s financial advisor encouraged him to raise money through bonds in order to buy back his recording rights from his former managers. Consequently, David Bowie partnered with Prudential Insurance Company and raised $55 million by promising investors income generated by his back catalog of 25 albums. He died in 2016 at age 69 due to complications from liver cancer.
