LAURA BRANIGAN

Laura Branigan was a songwriter and singer with a powerful voice touted to rival that of Celine Dion. Her hit song Gloria gained her a platinum certification and a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1983. Her soundtracks of the blockbuster hits of Ghostbusters and Flashdance shot her to the limelight.

Tragedy struck on August 26, 2004, to cut Laura’s life short at age 47 when she was about returning to the music scene after her hiatus. She died of an undiagnosed brain aneurysm. An earlier diagnosis and prompt medical attention might have prolonged Laura’s life. Laura Branigan was never embroiled in any financial crisis; no bankruptcy, no payday loans, no lingering mortgages. Best of all, she was never a part of any drug rehabilitation.
