STEPHEN HAWKING
Stephen Hawking was a theoretical physicist, author, and cosmologist who served as professor of mathematics and director of research at the prestigious University of Cambridge. As a young boy, he displayed an innate talent for math and science and opted to major in mathematics in college. He was awarded a scholarship to Oxford and soon began his university studies at 17 years old. He then earned his doctoral degree in theoretical physics and applied mathematics, specializing in cosmology and general relativity.
Hawking was deemed one of the world’s most brilliant minds with a high IQ of 160. Unfortunately, he was hit by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) that paralyzed him during his lifetime. Nevertheless, the genius physicist never let his condition limit him from achieving goals that most of us couldn’t dream of. His written work, A Brief History of Time, broke new ground in the world of physics.
