He has been the host of the show for a little less than four decades. Before having his role, he was a weatherman for various TV channels. Pat was also a disc jockey in the US army. During his time in the military, he was requested to host various programs and radio show hosts, where he perfected his craft as a host.

During his tenure as the host of the Wheel of Fortune, Pat would also diversify his income by doing films.
